FUNDRAISING

Financial Support

Operation Catnip is run by a small group of dedicated volunteers. We rely on financial donations for the continued care of our community cats. Subsidizing TNR in large colonies, unexpected medical issues, and regular supply costs all contribute to our ongoing financial needs.

We accept:

A large, long haired orange cat with an ear tip sitting on a pile of bricks.

*Please note, we are not a registered charity and cannot give out tax receipts at this time.

A fluffy brown tabby stretches up to a person to get some food.

Supply Donations

We appreciate donations of supplies! We are always in need of cat food for trapping, post-surgery care, large colonies, and the occasional foster kittens. Please get in touch with us if you have any of the following new/gently used items to donate:

  • Cat food (wet & dry)
  • Kitten food & KMR
  • Cat litter (non-clumping for kittens!)
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Large dog crates
  • Live traps
  • Litter boxes, small food dishes, misc. supplies

Donation Boxes & Catnip Toys

We are very grateful for the incredible community support from small businesses in the Peterborough area! The following businesses sell our famous catnip toys and have donation boxes on their counters. Please show them your support!

Thank you for all the support! If you would like a donation box and/or catnip toys to sell at your business, please send us a message!

A calico tabby, Gemini, sits in some cat grass and catnip in the Chemong Pet Valu.
A fuzzy black cat, Billie, cuddles up to a homemade catnip toy.
A smoke point Himalayan mix nervously looks up from the trap. Her face and feet are dark grey and the rest of her body is light grey.

Sponsor-A-Spay

$195 That’s the actual cost Operation Catnip pays to have a cat go through our TNR program. This includes spay/neuter surgeries, rabies and FVRCP vaccinations, ear-tipping, and flea and tick treatment.

Although it may be reasonable to ask caregivers to cover the cost of surgery if they have one or two cats, what if they have five, ten, or forty!? What if the caregiver has a limited income and wants to do right by the cats, but doesn’t have funds for the surgery?

That’s where Sponsor-a-Spay comes in!

A donation of $195 would cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, flea/tick/worm treatment and ear-tipping for one cat. We are very grateful for any amount you donate, every dollar helps!

Ongoing Fundraising

Please check out our social media pages for ongoing fundraising events. We run online auctions, raffles, contests, and other events. Sometimes our incredible supporters fundraise on our behalf, and that’s extremely helpful!
